No. Deerhide is too thin and flimsy to be used for these types of bags. Deerhide is +/- 1oz. leather, our minimum is 4oz. but more typically 5-6oz. Most of our bags are made from bovine hides, and occasionally bison.
Our leather goods are made from top grain leather which retains the scars, scrapes and sometimes the brand from the cattle. Leather is a rustic material that will patina with use.
All our creations are designed and handmade by Alex and Charlene in Columbus, MT and Spanaway, WA. We do not outsource any part of our operation.
Leather requires little care. If your leather is becoming brittle, we recommend refreshing it with saddle soap, such as Fiebings.
All our leather is sourced from tanneries in the USA that have been in business for generations. We use exclusively vegetable tan leathers.
Yes! Because our products are truly one of a kind, we sometimes have products on display at a local market that have not been added to the Shop. Contact us with a description of the item, we can typically make a similar item for you if it is not in our inventory.
Nubuck, unlike suede is made from the outside of an animal hide. It is more durable than suede and can withstand more scuffing. Nubuck does not develop the same patina that top grain leather will, so if you're looking for a bag that shows wear over time choose a top grain leather instead.
